Ann Myers, who along with husband Phil owns Myers Horse Farms, Ltd., raised Zips Chocolate Chip and recognized early the basic ingredients necessary for a world championship - caliber horse. Being an amateur competitor herself, Ann sought the help of a professional trainer to develop "Chips" talents. Cleve Wells met the task and went on to win seven of the ten futurities shown in during "Chip's" two and three year old years. As a four year old, Zips Chocolate Chip completed his Superior in Western Pleasure with a total of 81 AQHA points. He qualified for the 1989 AQHA World Show by winning 10 consecutive Western Pleasure classes. "Chip" went on to win 1989 AQHA World Champion Junior Western Pleasure Horse and was first under all five judges. Spectators that year also got a taste of success as the Zips Chocolate Chip camp handed out over 100 dozen chocolate chip cookies at the World Show The recipe was history in the making. Zips Chocolate Chip has sired World Champion Quarter Horses, Paints, Appaloosas, and Palominos. He has been the leading sire of pleasure horses by money earners for half of the 90's.
